Grand tour of Albania

Day 1: Arrival in Tirana

Today you will arrive in Albania, through Tirana airport. Our representative will meet you at the arrivals of Tirana airport and escort you to your hotel, which is located near the center of Tirana.

• Depending on your arrival time, you might do an info meeting with your tour guide.
• Evening at leisure to explore the center of Tirana on your own.
• Overnight in Tirana.

Day 2: Tirana & Shkodra

In the first part of the day we will visit the center of Tirana.

In the second part of the day we will drive towards the town of Shkodra, located in the North part of the country.

• Visit Tirana’s Skenderbeg main square.
• Visit the communist era BunkArt 2 museum.
• Visit the new Christian Orthodox cathedral of Tirana.
• Visit at traditional ethnic food farm/restaurant.
• Visit the IV century fortress of Shkodra.
• Afternoon at leisure to explore the old part of the town of Shkodra.
• Overnight in Shkodra.

Day 3: Koman lake & Valbona

After breakfast we will drive towards lake Koman where we will take the ferry boat to Fierza. In the second part of the day we will drive and explore the National park of Valbona. In the afternoon we will check in accommodation in the historical town of Prizren.

• Drive to Vau Dejes where we take the ferry boat.
• Ferry boat ride through Koman lake.
• Drive to Valbona national park.
• Explore the national park of Valbona.
• Drive towards the historical ton of Prizren.

Day 4: Prizren & Kruja

After breakfast we will drive explore the historical town of Kruja. In the second part of the day we will drive and explore the historical town of Kruja. In the afternoon we will check in accommodation in Kruja, near the old town.

• Visit the historical center of the town of Prizren.
• Drive to the historical town of Kruaj.
• Visit the old town of Kruja located within the XV century fortress.
• Visit at the Ethnographic museum of Kruja.
• Explore the old bazaar on your own.
• Overnight near the old town of Kruja.

Day 5: Durres & Berat

In the first part of the day we will visit the town of Durresi, which was the old capital of Albania until 1925.

In the second part of the day we will explore the historical town of Berati which is an UNESCO World Heritage listed town.

• Visit at the Archaeological museum of Durresi.
• Visit at the II century AD Roman amphitheater of Durresi.
• Visit at the IV century BC fortress of Berat.
• Visit at the old XVIII century Christian Orthodox Cathedral of Berat.
• Visit at the Onufri Byzantine Icon’s Gallery.
• Evening at leisure to explore the ton of Berat on your own.
• Overnight in the old town of Berat.

Day 6: Apollonia & Ionina Riviera

In the first part of the day we will visit Apollonia Archaeological park.

Next, after driving throguh Llogara national park, we will explore the Ionian sea Riviera, while driving through the region of Himara. Final destination the town of Saranda by the sea.

• Visit at Apollonia Archaeological park, which started as a Greek colony in the VII century BC.
• Visit at the Archaeological museum of Apollonia.
• Drive through at stop at Llogara National Park.
• Visit at Ali Pasha XIX century fortress, at Panormi (Porto Palermo) bay.
• Afternoon at leisure to explore the town of Saranda on your own.
• Overnight in Saranda, by the sea.

Day 7: Butrinti & Blue Eye park

In the first part of the day we will explore the archaeological park of Butrinti which started as Greek colony in the VII century BC, and since 1995 is an UNESCO World Heritage listed site.

After a stop at Ksamili by the sea, we will continue with a visit at Blue Eye natural water springs park. Next we will continue towards the historical town of Gjirokastra, which is our final destination for today.

• Visit Butrinti main Archaeological site.
• Visit at the archaeological museum of Butrinti.
• Visit at Ksamili beach.
• Visit at Blye Eye natural water springs park.
• Afternoon at leisure to explore the old town of Gjiroakstra on your own.
• Overnight in the old town of Gjirokastra.

Day 8: Gjirokastra & Permet

In the first part of the day we will explore the old town of Gjiroastra, which is an UNESCO World Heritage listed town, starting from the XIV century fortress and the old bazaar.

In the second part of the day we drive towards the town of Korca located in the East part of the country.

• Visit at the XIV century fortress of Gjirokastra.
• Visit at the XIX century old bazaar of Gjirokastra.
• Drive through the river valley of Vjosa.
• Stop at the little town of Permet by the river.
• Drive through Germenji national park.
• Afternoon at leisure to explore the town of Korca on your own.
• Overnight in Korca.

Day 9: Korca & Pogradec

In the first part of the day we will explore the town of Korca, well know for its architecture and religious and art-loving people.

In the second part of the day we will visit the town of Pogradec by the lake Ohrid and drive towards our final destination, Tirana.

• Visit at the Medieval Art Museum of Korca.
• Visit at the old bazaar of Korca.
• Stop at the town of Pogradec.
• Visit Drilon water springs park, by lake Ohrid.
• Drive through Shkumbini river valley towards Tirana.
• In the evening we will have our farewell dinner in traditional restaurant in Tirana.
• Overnight in Tirana.

Day 10: Return

• Today we will transfer you to Tirana International Airport, wishing you a nice flight back home.
