General itinerary: Tirane – Kruja – Shkoder – Durres – Berat – Ardenica – Apollonia Llogara – Himare – Saranda – Butrinti – Blue Eye park – Gjirokastra – Permet – Erseka – Korce – Pogradec – Elbasan – Tirane
Program of the tour:
Our representative will meet you at the Tirana International Airport and escort you to your hotel in Tirana. Depending on your arrival time, you will do an info meeting with your tour manager.
Overnight in Tirana
Our day will start in Tirana’s main square. (check detailed program) Next we will drive towards the historical town of Kruja where we will visit the XIV century fortress where the Skenderbeg’s and Ethographic museum are located. After the visit in both museums and the old bazaar we will have an introduction to the traditional Albanian culinary while having lunch in a traditional restaurant.
In the second part of the day we will drive north towards the town of Shkodra, where we will visit at the IV century BC castle of Rozafa (name given by the legend of Rozafa) located on a hill overlooking the lake of Shkodra and the Albanian Alps. In late afternoon we will check in our accommodation in the town of Shkodra. Evening at leisure to explore the old part of the town on your own.
Overnight in Shkodra
After breakfast we will drive towards the town of Durresi, (the capital of Albania 1272 – 1920,) and one of the biggest Greek colonies in the Adriatic sea coast. Our visit will include the Archaeological museum (one the best in the country) and the II century AD Roman amphitheater which is the biggest of its kind in the Balkans. In the afternoon we will continue our drive towards the historical town of Berat, which is an UNESCO World Heritage listed old town. We will visit the IV century bc fortress located on the hill overlooking the Osumi valley. inside the fortress we will visit the old Christian Orthodox cathedral where the Onufri Byzantine Icon’s Gallery is located. In late afternoon we will check in the accommodation located in the old historical part of the town of Berat.
Overnight in Berat
After breakfast will visit the monastery of Ardenice (XIII cnetury), which is famous for it s church with the wooden altar and colorful frescoes from the XVIII century. Next visit will be at Apollonia Archaeological park which started in the 7th century BC as the ancient town of Apollonia, founded in the VII century BC by the Corinthians. Our visit will start in the main public area and will include the Agora, the Buleftrion, the Odeon, the temple of Artemis/Diana and the museum of the park located within the christian orthodox monastery.
In the second part of the day we will drive along the Albanian Riviera on the Ionian seaside. On the way, will drive through the forest of Llogara National Park. After a visit in the Ali Pasha castle located in the middle of Panormi bay (also know as Porto Palermo) which was build in the first decade of XIX under the supervision of french engineers and is a rear example of french military architecture in Albania. We will continue towards the town of Saranda located by the sea where we will check in our hotel.
Overnight in Saranda
During the first part of the day we will visit the Archaeological park of Butrinti, UNESCO World Heritage site since 1995. Founded in the VII century bc by the Corcyrians, it became one of the most important Greek colonies in the Ionian sea. Now days it is best preserved archaeological site in Albania. Our visit will include the main public area and the museum of the park located in the Venetian fortress at the acropoli of the site.
In the second part of the day we will continue our tour east towards the historical town of Gjirokastra which is an UNESCO World heritage listed town. On the way, we will visit the Blue Eye water springs natural park. In the town of Gjirokastra we will visit the XIII century fortress located on the hill overlooking the old town and Drinos valley. In the afternoon we will check in our traditional accommodation located in the historical part of the town.
Overnight in Gjirokastra
After breakfast we will drive East towards the town of Korca, through one of the most remote part of Albania. We will make a small stop in the town of Permet, before continuing through the valley of Vjosa rriver, all the way to the Greeke borders, wehre we will enter Germenji national park. We will arrive in Korca in the afternoon where we will check in our hotel located in the old part of the town. Evening at leisure.
Overnight in Korca
In the first part of the day we will explore the town of Korca where we visit the old christian orthodox cathedral and the Medieval museum which has the larges collection of Byzantine icon’s in Albania, same dating back in the XIII century. After a short visit in the old bazaar of the town we will continue towards Pogradec where we will have lunch by the lake Ohrid.
In the secnd part of the day we will drive towards Tirana, on the way we will visit the fortress of Elbasan (XVI century).
In the afternoon we will drive towards Tirana where we will check in our hotel. In the evening we will join together for a traditional Albanian farewell dinner.

After breakfast we drive you to the airport wishing you a nice flight back home.
