Our representative will meet you at Tirana International Airport and escort you to your hotel near the center of Tirana. (Depending on your arrival time, you may have an info meeting with your tour director on the same day or the day after.)
Overnight in Tirana
Our day will start with a visit at the main square of Tirana where we will visit the Ethem Bej mosque near the clock tower. Next we will drive towards the town of Durresi by the sea wgich started as a Greek colony in the VII century bc and grew to became one of the biggest Greek colony in the Mediteranean sea. Our visit in Durres will include the Archaeological museum and the II century AD Roman Amphitheater, which is the bigest in the Balkans.
In the second half of the day we will visit Ardenica Monastery, famous for it’s Christian Orthodox church with the old wooden altar and it’s walls covered in colorful frescoes. In late afternoon we will drive towards the town of Vlora where we will check in our hotel.
Overnight in Vlora
We will start our day with a scenic drive through the bay of Vlora. On the way will stop at 1100 meters above sea level, through the forest of Llogara National Park, from where we can admire the whole coast line and the Greek islands in the Ionian sea.
After a visit at a little hidden gem in the village of Dhermi (check detailed program), we will continue towards the little town of Himara by the sea where we will make a short break. Our next visit will be at Ali Pasha fortress in the bay of Panormi (also knows as Porto Palermo bay) which is a rare example of french military engineering, built in the first decade of the XIX century. Our next visit in Himara region will be in the water springs of Borshi before continuing towards the town of Saranda by the sea, where we will check in our hotel.
Overnight in Saranda
After breakfast we will visit Butrinti Arcaheological park (an UNESCO World heritage site) which started as a Greek colony in the end of the VII century BC and is now days one of the best preserved archaeological sites in Albania. Our visit int he park will include (not only) the main public area, the Greek theater, the roman bath, the Baptistery, the Nimfeum, the Basilica, the Venetian fortress and the museum of the park.
In the second part of the day we will drive east towards the town of Gjirokastra, on the way we will visit Blue Eye natural water springs park. In the afternoon we will check in our accommodation located in the old part of the town. Our little hotel in Gjirokastra will be our last pleasant surprise of the day.
Overnight in Gjirokastra
In the first part of the day we will visit Gjirokastra which is an UNESCO World heritage town. Our visit will start at the Byzantine fortress of Gjirokastra (XIII century) and will end at the old bazaar of the town.(check detailed program).
In the second part of the day we drive towards Apolonia Archaeological park which used to be one the biggest Greek colonies in the Adriatik sea. Now days it is the biggest archaeological site in Albania. Our visit will include the main public area and the archaeological museum of the park located in the Christian Orthodox Monastery nearby.
In the afternoon we will drive towards the town of Berat, where we will check in our accommodation located in the old part of the town.
Overnight in Berat
Our visit in Berat (UNESCO World Heritage town) will start from the Medieval center of the town located next to Mangalemi neighborhood where we will visit a Suni and an Helveti mosque. Next visit will be inside the IV CENTURY BC fortress located on the top of the hill overlooking the Osumi river, where we will visit the old Christian orthodox cathedral of the town, where we will admire some of the most beautiful and oldest byzantine icons in Albania, dating from the XIII century, in the Onufry’s gallery.
In the second part of the day we will drive towards the borders with Macedonia. After a scenic drive through Shkumbini river valley we will see lake Ohrid while crossing the borders into Macedonia. In the afternoon we will check in our hotel in the historical part of the town of Ohrid.
Overnight in Ohrid
Today we explore Ohrid UNESCO World heritage town. Our visit will start form the upper part of the town and will include (not only) the Icons Gallery, the roman amphitheater, the Plaoshnik archaeological site and more. After a scenic walk by the lake we will end our visit of the old town of Ohrid at Sveti Sophia church.
In the second part of the day we visit Sveti Naum monastery located on a rock overlooking the lake and next to the black Drin natural water springs park. We will end the tour of Svetu Naum with a row boat ride through the clear waters of the Drin water springs park. Evening at leisure in the old town of Ohrid.
Overnight in Ohrid
Today we will visit the the Hercalea Lincestis Archaeological site near Bitola, wich was a town founded by Philip the father of Aleksander the great. Our visit in the town of Bitola will include the Christian Orthodox cathedral with 3 altars and the old bazaar in the old town.
In the second part of the day we will drive towards Skopje the capital of Macedonia where we will check in our hotel. Evening at leisure to explore the town on your own.
Overnight in Skopje
After breakfast we will explore the town of Skopje, starting from the old fortress (XV century) located on the hill hill overlooking the town and Vardari rive, next to the old town. Our visit will include (not only) the old Christian Orthodox cathedral, the bazaar and will end at the Stone bridge, the symbol of the town located over Vardari river. (check detailed program)
In the second part of the day we will drive towards Prishtina, the capital of Kosova. On the way we will visit Gracanica christian Orthodox monastery. In the afternoon we will check in our hotel located near the center of Prishtina. Evening at leisure.
Overnight in Prishtina
In the first part of the day we will drive towards the town of Peja located in the north part of Kosova where after a short stop by the river O Peja we will visit Decani Monastery which is an UNESCO World heritage site, a symbol of the slavic orthodox church and the Serbian history, famous for its impressive church and peaceful surroundings. Next visit will be in the old part of the town of Gjakova, famous for its old bazaar. Our tour will continue south towards the historical town of Prizren where we will check in our hotel located in the old part of the town.
Overnight in Prizren
In the first part of the day we will drive and visit the historical town of Kruja in Albania. Our visit in Kruja will start form the Othoman fortress (XV century) and will include the Skanderbeg’s museum, the Ethnographic museum, the Bektashi mosque and the old bazaar. In the afternoon we will check in our hotel in Tirana.
Overnight in Tirana
After breakfast we will drive you to Tirana International Airport for your flight back home.
